Modern Progress.

Modernity has been recognized by society as a new improved way of living and thinking. New discoveries have been made, new information has been found, new laws have been stated and many other events, all to help humanity. All these ideas seem so appealing when you first think of them but everything has a darks side. Many authors before the turn of the twentieth century had different perspectives about this but in the end there all right. We can make predictions but we’ll never know what really lies ahead of us.

For many of these modern writers they saw modernity as progress though it can also affect negatively. Generally authors explain that modernity is a way of improving this world and the people that live in it. Some state that it’s human beings that are leading modernity towards perfection. Men notice errors within time and eventually help form technology. They correct things until they’ve reached perfection and this is what is keeping them going through life. Continuing to fight for what’s best. Man’s mind will keep developing to reason better and consider their rights. Within time a little more sense comes to people’s minds. And human beings learn to respect each other, as many people today would have noticed. Author Jean Antoine argues that, “Will not men be continually verging towards that state in which all will possess the requisite knowledge for conducting themselves in the common affairs of life by their own reason” Jean Antoine. I relate this with what has been stated above because of man’s need to arrive to a point of personal perfection. Modernity is bringing new improved inventions and theories to advance in humans living traditions. This seems to give modernity a good impression. Technology is commercially attractive to “modern” citizens. A productive change in modernity is that peace begins to be a main concern and the law a system to rely on.

Other authors thought that modernity is improving technology but ruining men’s mind. It will eventually spoil some of the best living styles that humans obtained before modernity. But no one knows what’s going to end up happening in the future. So this leaves many people in doubt. When modernity starts taking power over human’s living customs men may begin to feel enslaved. They lack their enthusiasm and their inner freedom, creating a miserable environment. Eveytime there is newer improved gadgets, these seem to be desired by most people today. Little by little it makes people lazier since little things that keep us going through out the day are being done for them. This creates a bubble that isolates men’s mind from reality. Creating more ignorance. Another quality made to improve human lives is technology, which might seem exiting when it shows new improved ways of working. It shows to be very helpful until it’s leaving many men unemployed. Machines are taking over the new world, just like Friedrich Engels said, “But the perfection of machinery is making human labor superfluous” Friedrich Engels.

Some writers mention that modernity tricks people into believing that everything is in great conditions and that it provokes many people to get used to relying too much on technology. Believing that everything will be okay isn’t going to help in any way for the well being of the earth or humanity. Only people affected by this new era will realize that it’s impossible to know before time in what state our world might be. There are many different opinions of what may end up happening within civilization but no one knows. A person’s mind can easily be brain washed and led to believe in things someone would never thought of. New doesn’t necessarily mean better but it has shown improvement. Modernity has its pros and cons and that’s the way it will always be, but yet again, no one knows.

How I became

I’ve noticed a difference in myself from year to year. Every time I mature a little more I change a way of thinking. Many little things that go on in our lives or silly comments that we are told can remain in our heads forever. For example, if a superstitious person tells you that walking under triangular stairs is bad luck, then depending on the kind of person you are, the next time you come across triangular stairs you might end up walking around them, even if you don’t believe in those kinds of things. I’m one of those of people.
When I was very young, around four years old, I was run over by a motorbike. I don’t remember it very well but my mother told me that the guy on the motto didn’t stop. I shot up and then landed on my back. My mom took me to the hospital but I didn’t have a bruise or scar left from the accident. Later that night I was in bed with my mother and I told her that I wasn’t hurt because when I was falling angels were letting me down gently. Shortly after that, my father passed away. At the moment I didn’t see the relation, but as I grew up a bit I started to feel a little guilty. I didn’t understand why. Little by little I was convinced that it had nothing to do with me and from then on I just felt a new layer of protection over me.
My dad’s loss I think was one of the strongest yet unconscious impacts in my life. My dad passed away when I was five. Therefore I didn’t spend a very long period of my life with him. My mother and my father were never married and they separated before I was born. So I’ve never had a father at home, it’s always been my mom and me. I like living like this but it does sometimes complicate things.
After my father passed away the only close person I had left apart from my mother was this lady I called my Tata. She looked after me from when I was one until I was eight. My mother always mentioned her as an angel because she was such a nice lady. She was simply a very good person. I think she was too good and I really loved her. I considered my grandmother. Only she was always around, because my mom worked in restaurants at night. She was the kind of person that dedicated all her time to help others. She passed away when she was in her sixties, but I believe that if Nirvana really existed she’s a woman that’s reached it. That is an inspiration to me.
